Academy
The Academy is HowToo’s beautifully designed learning platform for customer, partner, and internal training -bringing together content delivery, engagement, and tracking in a seamless, enjoyable experience.
Academy designer
The Academy designer lets you customise the look and feel of your Academy home page. You can add logo, define colors, set a hero graphic, and configure titles and text to create a branded, welcoming learning experience.
Assessment
Assessments enable both creators and learners to measure understanding of lesson content and confirm that learning outcomes have been achieved. They play a critical role in validating knowledge and reinforcing learning.
In HowToo, assessments can generate a score that is tracked by HowToo Academies and many other LMS platforms.
Creators can add a formal assessment at the end of a lesson to calculate a cumulative score and provide pass or fail feedback. Question blocks can also be placed throughout the lesson to support learning and reinforce key concepts, though scores from these questions are not tracked.
HowToo offers a range of question types, including multiple choice, true and false, drag and drop, and rearrange. These question blocks require learners to submit a response and allow creators to provide tailored feedback for both correct and incorrect answers. Feedback helps encourage learners and clarify concepts they may have misunderstood or missed.
Assessment pool
An assessment pool is a separate set of questions used when a learner reattempts an assessment. Its purpose is to add rigour by presenting a different set of questions on each attempt, reducing repetition while still assessing the same knowledge.
Each pool must contain the same number of questions, and it is recommended that questions across pools are aligned to ensure consistent coverage of the learning outcomes.
Block
A block is a single page or screen in a lesson. HowToo has many block types to choose from, such text and media blocks as well as interactive blocks, such as carousels, click and reveals or questions.
You can see above that each lesson is made up of a number of these blocks.
Each block thumbnail displays the category, visual card, title, and description.
- Category: The type of block chosen
- Visual card: An image of the block type
- Title: The block title, used for sidebar navigation by learners
- Description: More information about the block contents. This is only for Creator reference

Course
A course is a compilation of one or more lessons. In addition to lessons, a course can include supporting resources such as videos, downloadable materials, and other learning assets. Courses are designed to deliver a broader learning outcome made up of multiple learning moments.
Lesson
A lesson is the smallest trackable learning object in HowToo. It is the core building block used to deliver learning content and assess understanding.
A lesson provides the framework to create a structured learning experience by combining a storyboard, content, media, sections, and assessments.
Below is a lesson created with HowToo.

Media library
The media library is a central space for managing and accessing media used across your learning content. It includes HowToo’s built-in stock library, as well as your team library, which contains images, videos, and other media uploaded by members of your subscription.
The media library makes it easy to find, reuse, and manage media consistently across lessons and courses.
Ready-to-go lesson
A Ready-to-go lesson is a complete editable learning experience. With engaging activities and trackable assessments, all ready-to-go lessons designed by expert learning designers and with input from content experts. Ready-to-go lessons can be delivered as-is, or edited using HowToo to align branding elements, or tailor the information to your organisation.
They contain everything; an expertly designed learning storyboard, beautiful images, videos and media, and content from subject matter experts.

Section
A section is a structured part of a lesson made up of blocks that belong together. Sections help break up content into meaningful parts, making lessons easier to navigate and understand.
Sections are accessed from the lesson home page and can be added, reordered, and rearranged from the storyboard view.
Storyboard
A storyboard provides a bird’s-eye view of the learning experience. It allows creators to structure, rearrange, and refine blocks to design the sequence of content, interactions, questions, and assessments.
Guided by learning science, the storyboard shapes how learners progress toward a defined learning outcome.
Every lesson has either a single-topic storyboard, or multi-topic storyboard.
This is a linear, single topic storyboard.

And this is a multi-topic storyboard.

Template
A template is a lesson frameworks that allow creators to quickly develop high-quality courses by dropping their content into each block in the suggested sequence.
Based on action verbs from Bloom's Taxonomy and common business objectives, they offer a recommended sequence of blocks with suggested content for each block.
With over 50 templates, you're sure to find something to help you get started.

Theme designer
The theme designer allows you to create and manage visual themes that can be applied to lessons. It lets you define colors, fonts, design elements, button styles, labels, and language to ensure a consistent, on-brand learning experience.
Themes make it easy to apply your brand look and feel across lessons with a single click.
