True and false is a question block that lets your learners respond to statements with a simple yes or no, making it quick and easy to reinforce key concepts.
You can include multiple questions within a single block and use true and false blocks in formal assessment sections to evaluate your learners' progress.

This guide shows you how to create and use true and false questions to check learner understanding.
Create a true and false block
- Navigate to the storyboard view of your lesson.
- Select 'Add new block'
- Select the 'Question' drop-down in the left-hand sidebar.
- Select 'True and false'. The library will display available block layouts that include true and false questions.
- Select 'Preview' to view the block layout without creating it.
- Select 'Choose block' to finalize your choice.
Add text to a true and false question
- Navigate to the editor view of your true and false block.
- Select the true and false section of the block.
- Select the answers directly to edit them.
Add more questions
- Navigate to the editor view of your true and false block.
- Select the true and false section of the block.
- In the left-hand sidebar, roll your mouse over over the existing true and false answers.
- Select one of the blue '+' buttons.
Change answer labels
- Navigate to the editor view of your true and false block.
- Select the true and false section of the block.
- In the left-hand sidebar, enter new labels in the text-entry boxes under 'Answer Labels'.
❗️ Note: The same labels will be applied to all questions in the block.
Designate correct answers
- Navigate to the editor view of your true and false block.
- Select the true and false section of the block.
- In the left-hand sidebar, select the correct answer within each question. Answers designated as correct will appear with a white circle, and will appear ticked in the question section.
Edit feedback
- Navigate to the editor view of your true and false block.
- Select the true and false section of the block.
- In the left-hand sidebar, select the 'Feedback' drop-down to view the feedback panels.
- Select the text in the feedback panels to edit the feedback messages.
- In the left-hand sidebar, toggle between 'Correct' and 'Incorrect' to view and edit each message.
❗️ Note: You can only record a single message to be delivered to all incorrect responses. Variations of feedback responses for different submitted answers cannot be recorded. Check out our tip on how to write effective feedback.
Randomize questions and answers order
1. Navigate to the editor view of your true and false block.
2. Select the true and false section of the block.
3. In the left-hand sidebar, toggle 'Randomize options' to 'On'.
❗️ Note: Randomizing the question and answer order will cause the both the questions and answers to appear in a randomized order for learners. The order of the questions answers as they appear in the editor view will therefore be irrelevant to how they appear to the learner.
Rearrange question order
- Navigate to the editor view of your true and false block.
- Select the true and false section of the block.
- In the left-hand sidebar, select the question you wish to move.
- Drag it up or down the sidebar to rearrange it's position and drop it into place.
Delete or duplicate answers
- Navigate to the editor view of your true and false block.
- Select the true and false section of the block.
