Once you have designed your theme, you will need to publish your theme to be able to add your theme to a lesson.
This article will help you publish your theme, as well as use the preview pane, and make your theme the default theme for your team.

Publish a theme
When you’re happy with your theme’s design and are ready to publish:
- Select ‘Publish theme’ from the top navigation bar
- Select the ‘Set as default’ checkbox, if you want this theme to be automatically added to any new lessons.
- and Select ‘Publish’ to confirm and make this theme available in lessons.
Published themes appear in the ‘Published’ view of your theme designer dashboard.
Once you have published your theme, you can select the ellipses icon to copy to draft, or archive your theme.
⭐ Tip: It’s okay if you don’t want to publish right away, your theme and your changes are already saved in your ‘Draft themes’ tab.
Edit a published theme
To make changes to a published theme, you will need to copy this theme to drafts. This is so you can make changes without impacting any lessons your team members might be using.
To copy your theme to draft:
- Navigate to the ‘Published’ tab on your theme designer dashboard
- Select the ellipses icon on the theme you would like to edit
- Select ‘Copy to draft’ from the drop down menu displayed
- Navigate back to drafts and locate the copy created, which will be named ‘Copy of …’ your theme. Now you can edit this theme and republish when you are happy with the changes.
⭐ Tip: Remember to apply this updated theme to your lessons in the lesson 'branding' settings.
Preview theme
Previewing your theme allows you to review your design across different blocks and devices, to make sure your theme looks great before publishing.
To review how your theme will look on different devices:
- Select the eye icon in the top navigation bar
- Select the device icons in the top navigation bar to preview desktop, iPad and mobile
If you find something you aren’t happy with, navigate back to the editor view by selecting the pencil icon, to continue making changes to your theme.
Select a default theme
You can select to make a theme the default theme for all your lessons. Default themes will automatically be added to any new lessons you create.
You can change your default theme at any time by navigating to the ‘Published’ section and selecting the star.
❗️ Note: You can only have one default theme at a time.
