This guide shows you how to create a new lesson and choose the best starting point for your content.

Create a new lesson

A lesson is a single learning experience, often also referred to as a lesson, or module. It consists of a storyboard and a sequence of blocks (also called pages), and may include an assessment at the end.

To create a new lesson, select ‘New Lesson’ from your dashboard.

This will give you three options to create your course; templates, Ready-to-go courses, or from scratch.

Option 1: Start from scratch

Want full control over your lesson? Select 'Start from scratch' to build your own storyboard and create a learning experience tailored to your team’s needs.

There are two basic types of storyboard structures: single topic, and multi-topic.

• Single topic lessons consist of a single, linear sequence of blocks. Single topic lessons are ideal for achieving 1-4 learning outcomes, or creating microlearning courses.
• Multi-topic lesson is consist of a branching sequence of blocks with a central home page. Multi-topic lessons are ideal for achieving 4-8 learning outcomes, and covering multiple concepts within a single course.

Option 2: Explore our lesson library

By selecting 'Explore our lesson library', you can instantly import a complete editable ready-to-go lesson designed by learning and content experts allowing you to create lessons incredibly fast.

1. Select ‘New lesson’ from your lessons dashboard
2. Select ‘Explore our lesson library’
3. Navigate through the categories to find a course you like
4. Add your theme and make changes to the course

With these four easy steps you can easily create a course that is ready for your team! 

Option 3: Choose a lesson template

By selecting 'Choose a lesson template’ you can instantly import sequences of blocks and content prompts, designed by learning experts to give you an easy sequence to follow and create great learning experiences.

1. Select ‘New lesson’ from your lessons dashboard
2. Select ‘Choose a lesson template’
3. Navigate through the categories to find a template you like
4. Follow the storyboard and in block guides to add your content
5. Add your theme

With these five easy steps you can easily create a course that is backed by learning science and ready for your team!

Option 4: Create with AI

By selecting Create with AI, you can instantly turn your documents into engaging lessons, helping you create content faster with the support of AI.

1. Select New lesson from your lessons dashboard
2. Select Create with AI
3. Upload your document
4. Choose your preferred format (Narrative, Scenario, or Traditional)
5. Add your lesson details, including learning outcomes, audience, relevance, and duration
6. Select Generate my lesson
7. Once generated, choose to Edit storyboard or Preview module

With these simple steps, you can quickly create a structured, engaging lesson tailored to your learners.

Once you have created your first lesson, it's time to start editing.
