There are many ways in which you can improve the accessibility of the text in your learning object. Inaccessible language can be a barrier to individuals with cognitive or learning disabilities, and can cause confusion, misunderstanding, frustration and loss of time for everyone.
- Use consistent terminology and labels across your entire learning object. Use the same names and verbs.
- Use simply and easy to understand language. Don't bog anyone down with overly complex explanations.
- Always include clear instructions for your learners on how to proceed, particularly with question and interactive blocks. An example might be. "Select all the correct answers below, and then select 'Submit' to continue. There may be more than one correct answer."
