Creating a new lesson

A lesson is a single learning experience, often also referred to as a lesson, or module. It consists of a storyboard and a sequence of blocks (also called pages), and may include an assessment at the end.

To create a new lesson, select ‘New Lesson’ from your dashboard.

This will give you three options to create your course; templates, Ready-to-go courses, or from scratch.

Option 1: Ready-to-go courses 

By selecting ‘Use a Ready-to-go course’ you can instantly import a complete editable lesson designed by learning and content experts allowing you to create lessons incredibly fast.

1. Select ‘New lesson’ from your lessons dashboard
2. Select ‘Use a Ready-to-go course’
3. Navigate through the categories to find a course you like
4. Add your theme and make changes to the course

With these four easy steps you can easily create a course that is ready for your team! 

 

Option 2: Templates 

By selecting ‘Use a template’ you can instantly import sequences of blocks and content prompts, designed by learning experts to give you an easy sequence to follow and create great learning experiences.

1. Select ‘New lesson’ from your lessons dashboard
2. Select ‘Use a template’
3. Navigate through the categories to find a template you like
4. Follow the storyboard and in block guides to add your content
5. Add your theme

With these five easy steps you can easily create a course that is backed by learning science and ready for your team!

Option 3: Create from scratch

Can't find a template or Ready-to-go course that matches your training needs? No worries! By selecting ‘Start from scratch’ you can build your own storyboard to meet your team's needs.

There are two basic types of storyboard structures: single topic, and multi-topic.

• Single topic lessons consist of a single, linear sequence of blocks. Single topic lessons are ideal for achieving 1-4 learning outcomes, or creating microlearning courses.
• Multi-topic lesson is consist of a branching sequence of blocks with a central home page. Multi-topic lessons are ideal for achieving 4-8 learning outcomes, and covering multiple concepts within a single course.

Once you have created your first lesson, it's time to start editing. 

Delete or duplicate lessons

You can easily delete old leaning lessons that are no longer needed.

To delete a lesson:

1. Select the ellipses or hamburger icon of your lesson
2. Select delete
3. Confirm delete

Note: This action will delete the lesson for everyone, including learners and cannot be restored.

Duplicate

Duplicate lessons to create a copy of an existing lessons. This is great for easy version control or copying saved templated and branding designs.

These lessons will immediately appear in your library with the prefix "copy of".

• Creating a New Lesson:
  • Definition: A lesson is described as a single learning experience, comprising a storyboard and a sequence of blocks (also referred to as pages), potentially concluding with an assessment.
  • Steps to Create:
    1. Initiate Creation: From the dashboard, select 'New Lesson'.
    2. Choose Creation Method: Users are presented with three options:
       • Ready-to-Go Courses: Instantly import a complete, editable lesson crafted by learning and content experts.
       • Templates: Import sequences of blocks and content prompts designed by learning experts to facilitate structured content creation.
       • Create from Scratch: Build a custom storyboard tailored to specific training needs, choosing between single-topic (linear sequence) and multi-topic (branching sequence with a central home page) structures.
• Deleting or Duplicating Lessons:
  • Deleting:
    • Procedure:
      1. Click the ellipsis or hamburger icon associated with the lesson.
      2. Select 'Delete'.
      3. Confirm the deletion.
    • Note: This action is irreversible and removes the lesson for all users, including learners.
  • Duplicating:
    • Purpose: Facilitates version control or the replication of saved templates and branding designs.
    • Outcome: The duplicated lesson appears in the library prefixed with "copy of".
