Uploading and using media

The media library contains a range of audio, video, image, subtitle/caption and audio description files.

Here you can upload and choose media to include in your lessons.

You can access the media library in two ways:

1. From the dashboard view of HowToo, select the Media library button in the left-hand sidebar.
2. From the editor view of HowToo, select a media element in a block, then select Browse media library from the left-hand sidebar.

Upload media files to the media library

Uploading files to the media library makes them available to use across your lessons. Your media library is shared with other creators and admins on your account.

You can upload files from the media library dashboard, or from the media library modal in media blocks.

1. Select the hyperlink (URL) in the large Upload file here blue box in the media library.
2. Select your image from your computer to upload. Your file will now appear under My Media and My uploads and can be immediately inserted into a block.

Using the inbuilt stock image library

Every HowToo account contains an inbuilt stock image library, giving you access to millions of royalty-free stock images via our API with Pexels.com.

Whilst these are free to use and don’t require attribution, please refer to https://www.pexels.com/photo-license/ for a full list of terms and conditions regarding the use and distribution of Pexels' images and videos.

To access and insert stock images:

1. Select an image element in a block.
2. Select Browse media library.
3. Select HowToo Media in the left-hand column.
4. Search for stock images by using keywords in the search bar.

 

Accepted file types

HowToo supports the following file types.

For images:

• JPEG
• JPG
• GIF
• PNG

For audio:

• MP3
• WAV

For video:

• MPEG
• MP4
• MOV
• 3GP

For subtitles/captions:

• VTT
